Initiative Aims to Provide Affordable Diapers to Low-Income FamiliesHoboken, NJ, March 10, 2016 -- Today, Jet.com, and Cuties announced the launch of the Community Diaper Program in response to the White House’s call for creative solutions to expand access to diapers for low-income families. This initiative will provide high-quality Cuties-brand diapers at affordable prices on Jet.com for distribution to families in need through participating nonprofits. The project will aim to help alleviate a widespread diaper crisis affecting low-income Americans. “One in three American families lack sufficient access to diapers and report not changing their child’s diaper as often as they feel they should, exposing them to serious health risks,” said Cecilia Muñoz , Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council. “For these families, high diaper prices at local corner stores force them to choose between buying diapers versus other essential items, a choice no family should have to make.” Immediately after learning of the White House’s call, Jet took the lead by mobilizing an internal team of experts to work on a solution that would lower the price of diapers without sacrificing quality. Jet identified other key partners, including enlisting leading manufacturer First Quality (maker of Cuties-brand diapers) to create a Jet.com-exclusive diaper pack that would be half the cost of the national average, one-third the cost of the highest corner store prices, and even be more affordable than purchasing from a mass retailer or club store.* “The poorest families in America pay twice as much for diapers as wealthier ones do, but our innovative savings engine and network of supply partners enables us to do something about it,” said Dana Hork, Director of Brand Experience at Jet. “It has been a tremendous honor to work alongside the White House and Cuties and leverage our core strengths to help those in need." These Jet-exclusive Cuties Economy Plus Packs of diapers will be available for anyone to purchase in late April. And starting today, nonprofits can apply to the Community Diaper Program on Jet.com to access these diapers at further discounted rates. Jet will directly fulfill orders from their warehouses so the diapers can be distributed to the nonprofits who serve families in need. Visit Jet.com/JetCares to learn more about the program.
