We`re smack-dab in the middle of the holiday season!
which means it`s time for family and friends to gather under one roof to celebrate life and love, and it`s also time for the frantic pre-party housecleaning! First thing on the cleaning list: vacuum those carpets and rugs. Between pets, kids, and everyday messes, carpets tend to take a beating, and vacuuming alone won`t take care of odors you may not notice anymore. That`s where carpet deodorizing powders come in! Sprinkling a bit on carpets before vacuuming helps to not only remove unpleasant odors, but also release pleasant aromas that are a welcome greeting for your guests. But why overpay on carpet deodorizers that can possibly contain unwanted chemicals when you can make your own at home for a fraction of the price? Check out this easy DIY below to make your own carpet deodorizing powder, using only 2 ingredients!
What You`ll Need
- 1 cup Baking Soda
- 4-5 drops Essential Oil(s)
Step 1
In a small bowl, combine baking soda and essential oils. Mix together using a spoon.
Step 2
Sprinkle over the carpet evenly and let sit for about 1 hour before vacuuming.
That`s all it takes! We used our Purify Oil for its delightfully refreshing and clean scent, but any other oil would be great, too!
Try lavender for a soothing scent or wintergreen for a holiday inspired aroma. Be sure to keep in mind that you will want to avoid using dark colored oils such as cinnamon on light carpets.
