Believe it or not, we're already entering April. Sure, the crazy weather has put a damper on the start of the season, but the bright light is Easter. To kick things off, and make it a fun month, make these naturally dyed eggs with your family! You'll rest assured no artificial dyes or funky chemicals will touch your kids skin, and kids will have a blast making them.
There are a few key things you'll need for all the egg colors, so do the following:
- Have 3 medium glass bowls, cleaned.
- Vinegar
- Water
- White Eggs
- A sauce pot
- Strainer
Once you have everything gathered, you can start to make your Easter approved dyes! Here's the recipe for the most popular colors a box would give. Oh, and step things up with some homemade gummy bears to snack on while coloring the eggs!
Pink
To achieve a pretty, pastel pink, you'll need to boil 2 cups of water with 1 cup of shredded beets. Once boiling is reached, you'll want to keep it on low heat until a deep, pink color is achieved. From here, strain into a bowl, and add 1 Tbsp. Vinegar. Place your eggs, and let color develop!
Blue
To achieve a bright blue, you'll need to boil 2 cups shredded purple cabbage and cover in water, about 1 inch above. Once boiling is reached, you'll want to keep it on low heat until the blue appears. From here, strain into a bowl, and add 1 Tbsp. Vinegar. Place your eggs, and let color develop!
Yellow
Finally, time for that beloved sunshine yellow! For this one, add two cups of water to 1 cup of Turmeric, boil. Remove from heat after a very yellow color is reached, and strain into a glass bowl. Add in 2 Tbsp. vinegar, and place eggs until yellow color develops.
For this one, be sure to grab our Turmeric Root Ground Powder!
