After a day at the beach or park, there are fewer things more refreshing than a soothing shower to wash the sun, and sand away. But, what really makes the experience are the scents you decide to wash with and fill your bathroom with. We're firm believers in the power of aroma to make daily routines better, even if it's as simple as a 20-minute shower! So today we're bringing you a homemade body wash that will not only make you smell amazing, but will leave you feeling clean, naturally. 

So let's first breakdown the components of a homemade body wash, so you know, you have an idea of what you're putting on your body and its purpose!

Castile Soap

Castile Soap is an all-natural, animal-friendly option for a bathing soap. It is made from simple ingredients like coconut and jojoba oils. While it lacks the substance Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (not a bad thing) that is a common ingredient to produce bubbles, this soap still provides a lathering foam because of the richness of its oils. Also being that it has a more basic pH, it is a better option for maintaining hydrated skin..which is important when you've been exposed to the elements all day!

Coconut Oil

We can say so much about the benefits of coconut oil, but we'll reduce it to a few of our top favorites.

1. It's a natural moisturizer -- This means a smooth application that leads to softer skin.
2. Full of Fatty Acids 
3. It's a  Versatile Scent -- No matter what essential oils you add, the scent of coconut oil will seamlessly blend in to the mix. 

Essential Oils

We love that the power of aromatherapy to help reinvigorate or relax the mind. For our post today, we've chosen to add the following, and want to share with you why!

Geranium 100% Pure Essential Oil: 

This is arguably one of the most feminine essential oil scents. One whiff and it will remind you of strolling through a field of  dainty, in bloom flowers. Light and elegant, it's the perfect balance of soothing and brightening for your spirits. 

Grapefruit 100% Pure Essential Oil:

Reminiscent of summery days, the powerful aroma of grapefruit is almost unmatched among other citrus fruits. It's tangy, tart, and will bring to mind the juicy goodness of the fruit. It also pairs perfectly with Geranium Oil to make the perfect mixture of bold citrus and sweet floral, 

Raw Honey

Honey is the oldest cheerleader for good skin since it has naturally occurring nutrients that help to soothe it.  It's a no-brainer we'd add some of nature's sugar to our homemade body wash to help it not only smell subtly sweet but bring to you yet another way to promote that coveted glow you long for!

DIY Brighter Days Body Wash:

Now that you know why we chose what we did for this body wash, let's start the process of making it!

What You'll Need - 

• Grapefruit 100% Pure Essential Oil (15 Drops)
• Geranium 100% Pure Essential Oil (15 Drops) 
• 1/3 Cup Castile Soap (We have Lavender Castile Soap as an option online) 
• 100% Wildflower Raw Organic Honey (1/3 Cup)
• 1/3 Cup Extra Virgin Coconut Oil 

How To Make It - 

+ In a bowl mix together the above ingredients 

+ Transfer into a squeeze-top bottle (BPA Free is best)
