There`s no shortage of ways to get most juice from a citrus fruit, but this one is pretty handy if you don`t have any other tools available but need to get the most juice out of a pile of lemons: use a Bru Joy® Garlic Press. About a quarter size of a lemon fits in nicely, and the pressing action is the same as a handheld juicer. Juicing a lemon or lime isn`t exactly difficult, but if you want to get the most out of your citrus fruit—and your money—as possible. You`ll want to use a freshly washed garlic press for this trick so your lemon juice doesn`t taste vaguely like garlic. As long as you can get the pieces of lemon into the press, it`ll work like a charm, and keep all of the pulp out of your dish. Of course, your key lemons have to fit, and most garlic presses may not be large enough to fit your lemon halves, but this is why I use a quarter size pieces to press at a time. This sames a lot of time and a lot of aching hands! I decided to check out the Bru Joy Garlic Press for myself and I have to say I`m impressed. I love the clean and simple appearance of the press. It`s also not very heavy. It is made of stainless steel and we found it very easy to use and to clean.
I`m not the strongest person around, or much at all, and I think it works easily to press. If the clove is very large it takes more strength to squeeze it than if the clove is small. You could always cut the clove in half to make it even easier though. Also, it`s strong enough to work well on ginger as well! When trying out the press I used both peeled and not peeled cloves and the results were amazing with both. Both cloves were minced quickly and thoroughly. Just note over filling with garlic just makes it harder as it is quicker to do just 1-2 at a time. The press does require you to at least start the crushing process using two hands as the handles of the press are quite far away when you are crushing larger cloves. After you are partially done pressing the garlic you can use one hand. The ergonomic handles were comfortable and easy to use.
Press is strongly built and the flip out basket made it easy to rinse out the press. After pressing the garlic 90%+ of the cleanup was done by simply rinsing the press in warm water for a few seconds. I gave it two or three swipes with a cleaning brush and it was as clean as new. The unit comes with the cleaning brush included. This unit is dish washer safe and of course we will always clean it with hot soapy water or in the dish washer. I just did the quick rinse to see how hard it was to clean it up. Overall I`m very happy with the garlic press and highly recommend it! I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
