Although I cannot honestly tell you if it eliminates odor or not since I have not encountered the problem, I can tell you that it is and Ionic air filter, which I have used a similar product for my bathroom which helped clean the air -- as in you better clean the filter ever few days! Of course that was years ago  and a different product, but it does make me believe and trust in the "ionic" name to work. The purifier itself is small and compact which means even in small spaces you still have room to place it somewhere in your fridge.
