Let me start off by saying I absolutely love tea and I drink it religiously. I drink tea hot, I drink tea cold, and I drink tea of a variety of flavors. Not only does tea taste good, but depending on the type of tea you get, it can also be beneficial for you health wise as well. As someone who is working on getting healthier and trying to lose weight, I personally enjoy drinking a
colon cleanse tea pretty regularly to help keep my system cleaned out, which, in turn, helps with the weight loss process. The reason being, having "junk" in your system (unhealthy sugars and such) will act as a preventative of losing weight making almost everything you try ineffective; leading to further frustrations and questions as to why that weight just won't go away. Now, a
colon cleanse isn't always the answer, however, it can have many benefits. Here are some other techniques I have been using to lose weight and get in shape:
1. Drinking Water
One thing that can really help with weight loss is replacing those sodas and cups of coffee with water.
Water is better than sodas and such because there is no sugar in water, but there's also no fat of any sort in water either. I find that when drinking water, it helps get rid of added water weight and a bloated belly. Of course, water isn't the "cure all" miracle worker to lose weight, but it can certainly make a difference. Before having my children, I was able to keep my weight down and in order only from drinking water for a couple weeks. Unfortunately, as I had children and got older, my body required more out of my than simply drinking some water, though it still helps and does make a slight difference. If not for anything else, for a healthier lifestyle and reducing my sugar intake that would have normally come from drinking my coffee and sodas.
2. Playing Outside
Honestly, I should call it exercising, but I really do not like to
exercise. So instead, I play outside with the kids, after all, they need to get some form on exercise and leg stretching in, too. We have a trampoline that we jump on, which is a great workout for my legs. Generally, I feel muscles in my upper leg area that I don't feel from walking or running. We also play football, soccer, and tag (not on a sports team), which involves quite a bit of running. I love that it's fun, so there are no thoughts that I'm actually exercising. It's a way to get your body moving and get your metabolism going. It may not be a lot, but it's definitely an improvement from sitting at a computer desk. The more active you are the higher chances of weight loss with better results! I recommend at least 30 minutes to an hour per day of active play.
3. Healthy Eating
I know, I know, this one is a given, but hear me out. I'm not a "health nut" where I cut out all sugars and carbs. I've tried such diets and found they work great - as long as you stick to them. The moment you are off that diet, though, all the weight comes back. So all the hard work and what felt like you were starving yourself seem to have been for nothing. So my suggestion? Find alternative recipes. Find ingredients that are typically fattening or full of sugars and replace them with other
ingredients that are less fattening. A simple internet search can quickly tell you replacement ingredients so you can enjoy delicious meals, but in a healthier style. Also, watch your portion size! Wait 30 minutes between each dish to allow food to digest. Chances are, you won't be hungry (or as hungry) after that waiting period! So you can
eat healthier without the stress.
Sure, I could have given you the typical lecture of how to lose weight, but if you're like me, the typical "diet and exercise" will not work because you will not stick to it. That's my main issue. You need to find a plan that works for you and your needs. These are the things I have been doing to improve my health and weight. I would love to hear your suggestions on what has worked for you in a comment below!
