Temperatures are rising which means Summer will be here soon. Along with the hot temperatures comes the need for cooling off and sometimes swimming pools and fans just aren't enough. Sometimes you just need to bust out the popsicles to help beat the heat! Of course, if you're anything like me, you'll eat popsicles left and right and those can get rather expensive plus all the trash and waste that's involved - it just all adds up. Well, have you considered making your own popsicles? Not only would making your own eliminate tons of waste in the environment, but it'd also save you a ton of money as well! Set of 6 Silicone Ice Pop Maker Molds are the perfect tools to get you started in making your own homemade popsicles!
Use the ice pop molds to make frozen margaritas or daiquiris. They're great for partially frozen drinks and slushies since they don't leak. If you want to get really creative, they can even be used to store spices and other miscellaneous items, either at home or on the go. The uses are only limited by your imagination! They're so easy to use! Just fill them with juice, purees, fruit, berries or yogurt for a healthy, everyday treat - and for a much lower cost than popsicles or freeze pops at the store. For something more decadent, fill with sherbet, ice cream, candy, cocoa...whatever you can dream up! When they're ready, just hold in your hand for a few seconds to warm the outside, then squeeze and enjoy with absolutely no sticking. Can't finish your treat? Just pop the included lid back on and save the rest for later!
I was sent a set of these molds to check out for myself and I was a bit skeptical of using them at first because generally ice molds are solid - like a storage container of some sort. These are silicon and flexible so I was worried about how it'd hold up when I added in any liquid to them to make my pops. Well, first of all, I made the mistake of adding Dr. Pepper 10 into my mold. It's a drink we don't really drink, so I thought it'd be perfect to use as the liquid for quick testing of the mold of how well it holds up and such. Bad idea! The mold I must say held up strong like a little trooper, but because I used carbonated soda, well it sort of exploded in the freezer - oops! I know this happens because of my husband always having to rush to pull his drinks out the freezer so they don't do that when he's in a hurry to get it cold, but it honestly slipped my mind. The awesome thing though is that it didn't explode and ruin everything in my freezer, just had a little leak coming from under the cap - which is pretty darn good if anyone has had experiences with exploding sodas in the freezer! The cap of the mold was just slightly pushed up with some frozen soda on the top of the cap - that was it! So while that drink failed (my fault!) the mold actually helped prevent it turning into a huge mess and I'm still able to enjoy it like a popsicle now!
While I didn't make the best decision in what popsicle flavor to try and make, the molds definitely surprised me. After pouring the drink inside they didn't flop around or fall over. They stood strong like a typical storage container style mold would; something I wasn't expecting to happen. The cap part easily goes on and off and absolutely helps prevent messes on the occasion you make a boo boo as I did. Knowing how great these molds work (and are easy to clean) I'm looking forward to trying out some new popsicle recipes and making some homemade pops for this upcoming summer!
