I`ve said it plenty of times and I`ll say it again. We homeschool Sophia. This is probably such common knowledge to my readers by now. We`re always looking for a new fun and educational ways to help Sophia learn. We`re also looking for more family fun ways to spend time together. Since having Jace in December, it is a big adjustment for Sophia, being 6, to now have to share mommy and daddy. So we try to do special things with her to show her she`s still very much important and that even though we have to spend a lot of time with her little brother, we still love her the same. It`s a big change and hard for someone her age to understand and adjust and we get that. So to try and make up for it we bring her places just for her or play games together as a family with her, etc. Well, we got a new came in from
Educational Insights called Pancake Pile-Up! Relay Game. Not only did we get a game, but they`re giving one away to one of my lovely readers as well! The game basically has your children role-play that they are working at a busy diner or restaurant. Their specific mission is to race back and forth to the grill following the menu card of each stack of pancakes they receive. This is a game of speed, coordination, sequencing, and a good way to get the kids to really pay attention.
The game comes with 10 pancakes that are in five different flavors - blueberry, strawberry, banana, chocolate, chip, and plain. The pancakes are well made using durable, quality material and stack pretty easily. Also included are 2 pats of butter. What`s a pancake without butter to the top of the stack right?
There are also two plates & two spatulas, one for each player or team as well as 10 quite durable & colorful order cards. The griddle that the pancakes stay on till whisked away to a plate is inside the bottom of the box. I love how even the box is included in the game instead of just being used for storage.  I also really like that you can play the game with 2-12 players and that teams are encouraged rather than the typical 2-4 player games you always see in the stores. Sophia had such a blast playing this game. While it was just the 3 of us playing, next time we get together with one of our friends, who has 2 kids her age, we have a game we can all play together that kids and adults can enjoy. It`s a game that doesn`t take very long to play and keeps the attention of the children. It`s also a great educational game - but the kids don`t even realize that they`re learning. The game helps develop gross motor skills, balance, and coordination as well as teaches following a sequence, a beginning math skill and encourages social skills from teamwork to being a good sport.
As a parent, I love educational things for my children and of course, Sophia just wants to have fun. I highly recommend this game for young children for your next family game night. Not the game for you? Head on over to Educational Insights and see what games they have that fit into your family.
