As you all know I'm on that get a healthy
kick. I've lost some weight along with some body fat (yay!) since my kick started, but it's even more encouraging when you can see your progress. I love being able to monitor how many steps I've taken or how many calories I'm burning. I find that it's more encouraging and makes you want to do more to see more progress. I just find that visuals make all the difference. For instance, I'd honestly do more sit-ups and push myself if I had some sort of visual with a percentage bar or something showing me that what I'm doing in that moment is making a difference. Sure, I can feel aches, pains, fatigue; but you don't see the instant results. The results come from persistence. Instant gratification though makes you want to push on - at least for me. Well, we can't have the instant gratification, but you can keep track in real time the progress of your activity with the ibitz
, which they have for both adults and kids!

I think the ibitz is neat. It's small, compact, lightweight and of course easy to carry around. The huge and major downfall for me though is that it's made for iPhones and iPads only. I use my Samsung Note 2 for everything and not being able to sync it up to that was a huge pitfall for me. I honestly believed because it connects via Bluetooth that it would be able to work with my android, but unfortunately not. So that was a HUGE disappointment. I guess because they have all sorts of neat devices out there and all of them seem to only care about connecting with iPhone users and leaving those who use Android out the picture. So for this review, I actually had to rely on a friend with an iPhone to be able to test it out.
During the use, we installed the app which came a bit harder than expected. Just a few error difficulties, but eventually sorted them through. We also noticed upon using the app it also wore down the phone battery rather quickly. When we did sync the ibitz to the phone we had to do it all manually and noticed the settings didn't seem to stick too well. So I guess the app works but is a bit flawed and a bit of a pain in the butt. Another thing is you have to remember to shake the ibitz, or at least in my case, for five seconds to wake it up when you're ready to use it. I like that the ibitz tracks my distance, step, and calories burned, and I can wear it on my hip or shoe while I am at work during the day, without it even being noticed. It is also water-resistant, which is a huge plus in my books.
All in all, I think the ibitz is a cool device
. It's a pain to set up from my experience and it sucks it only works for the iPhone, but the functionality of it is pretty neat. Now if they could make this device compatible with Android so I could actually use it I'd be more thrilled with it in all honesty. Would I recommend this? Only if you have an iPhone or iPad otherwise it'll be completely useless to you.
