As a mom who homeschools an 8-year-old, I am always looking for new and fun ways to help her learn her lessons. She loves art, crafts, and coloring. So when I was offered this HUGE coloring poster of America for her to check out, I thought it was just an AMAZING idea! Here`s a little more info...
About Marbles The Brain Store:
Marbles: The Brain Store started with the simple idea of finding the best brain games out there and putting them all in one place. That includes products for aging baby boomers concerned about memory loss, those with children with ADHD, as well as products for those who want to improve focus and attention, enhance creativity, become better multi-taskers and get the most out of the world`s smartest supercomputer: the brain.
Our idea was supported by undeniably compelling research and mind-boggling advances in the field of neuroplasticity. So we went for it — opening a kiosk in May of 2008 and our first store in Downtown Chicago in October 2008.
Since then we have opened brick-and-mortar locations across the country, building better brains from the East to West coasts. We even have a full service e-commerce website featuring all of our brainy products!
Eventually, we were hearing about specific brain fitness needs and knew we had to start creating products of our own to boost brain power. We started Marbles: Brain Workshop a division of Marbles, committed to the ideation and development of new, exclusive brainy products. These Marbles Original products have become huge hits as they`ve been featured in PARADE Magazine, WIRED, Real Simple, Parent Magazine, The TODAY Show, Martha Stewart Living, and Crain`s Business Magazine.
We`re excited you found us! Thank you for being as dedicated to strengthening the brains of you and your loved ones as we are. Bringing one of our products into your home is not only an investment in an awesome game night, but an investment in the integrity of your brain. We promise you`ll have fun, clear the mental cobwebs, and enjoy the cognitive benefits of playing with a smart purpose.
From their site:
This Really Big Coloring Poster is the real deal. The big cheese. The biggest, baddest, and most fun
coloring adventure for beginners and adults! Spanning 63"x36" the Let`s Color America Coloring Poster
features a quirky map of the USA just waiting to be filled in with crayons, colored pencil, or marker. Printed with vegetable ink on 70% recycled content paper, Let`s Color America Really Big Coloring Poster is an eco-friendly and playful accent on any bare wall in your home or classroom!
I know I read the measurements of the poster, but I honestly did not put any thought behind it. When this thing arrived, I learned just how huge it was. It fits along the whole side of our hallway that leads to the master bedroom! The poster paper is pretty thick and so far has not ripped on us. One thing I really love is all the detail on the poster. It makes it fun, for even myself, as an adult, to look at and learn. There`s sooo much to color! My plan is to teach my daughter a bit about each state - just a small amount at a time. As she learns, she gets to color it is. We have it taped up in the hallway for the time being so she can easily use it to find where states are, learn about where we live, in Louisiana, and just because, quite frankly, it looks really cool! I love all the pictures and graphics used to represent each state. It helps when researching information about the state and what would make a great lesson for someone her age.
Along with the poster, we were also sent the Urban Artist colored pencils
to use to color on the poster with. Of course, you can color the poster with anything - crayons, marker, etc. For me, I love the colored pencils. Maybe it`s because I`m used to using them in my adult coloring books
(yes, Marbles sells those too!), but they seem to just color better to me than the other options. They`re high-quality pencils, smooth coloring, and just overall brilliant colors!
Needless to say, this was one exciting educational piece that we got in. When Sophia, my daughter, saw the poster hanging in the hallway, she about went nuts
over how "cool" it looked and instantly became excited about learning about America. The bigger challenge we have now - keep the 2-year-old from scribbling all over it! Aside from that, this will be an exciting journey of learning and I have Marbles to thank for it. As a parent and a teacher, they definitely have my approval! Not only for the huge poster and pencils but their other products as well.
I took some time to browse their store and found quite a few things, as a homeschooling mom, that look like they will bring a bit more excitement in our homeschool lessons. Don`t believe me? Look for yourselves. Not to mention their pricing is fair as well!
