I`ll be the first to admit I`m not the biggest religious person in the world, nor do I generally care to make a topic out of religion just for the sake of respecting everyone`s own opinion. On the other hand, my mom loves religious artifacts and is a bit more into religion and such. With that being said, I graciously accepted an invitation to check out the My Comfort Cross, which I fully intend to pass along to my mom to add to her religious articles collection.

Comfort Crosses are individually carved from a single unique piece of beautifully grained olive wood pruned from the olive trees around Bethlehem the birthplace of Jesus. Christians have been carving crosses like this for hundreds of years, originally for pilgrims and more recently tourists visiting the Holy Land. Each craftsman receives a fair price to support their family and Christian community. The Comfort Cross is designed to fit comfortably into the palm of your hand as an aid to prayer or meditation. Ideal as your spiritual companion for easing children`s fears, comforting worries and stresses of adults and focusing the prayer of the sick and elderly.

So what`s my own personal opinion of the cross? First of all I was quite happy to receive the cross in a velvet drawstring bag. This makes it easy to store and protect the cross from dust. The cross itself is very smooth and lightweight, yet unique in a way I cannot quite put into words. The smoothness makes it easier to hold if you`re using it for aiding in prayers or just holding in general without getting splinters. Also, the fact that it`s carved from real wood is a plus as well. The natural texture is beautiful and is all around a beautiful piece. The size of the cross is just right to fit in the palm of your hand, so again it`s convenient to aid in prayer, but it`s also the perfect size to carry on your person or bring with you while traveling. However you intend to use your cross, whether spiritual aid or just to add to your collection, it`s a beautiful piece of work that I definitely think is worth it.
