I`m always looking for new and different snacks to try out. As much as I`d rather eat healthier, it doesn`t necessarily work out that way. Well I have at least discovered a new yummy treat and did I mention it does have some healthy benefits to it? They`re called Pretzel Crisps®!
Pretzel Crisps®: Excellent Food for Healthy Eating As a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator, I am always looking for great portable snack ideas for my clients to help them maintain or achieve a healthy lifestyle. Pretzels Crisps® are a great alternative to potato chips and other snack foods. They contain 110 calories per serving and no fat (10-11 crisps) compared with 150 calories and 10 gram of fat (1 g saturated) per one ounce serving for potato chips. The American Dietetic Association and American Heart Association recommends that the public should not consume trans fat and keep saturated fat consumption to a minimum. The American Heart Association recommends that individuals attain five to nine serving of fruits and vegetables daily, as well. Studies show that trans fat and saturated fat contribute to heart disease and raising bad cholesterol levels. Unfortunately, the majority of my clients, as well as most Americans, find it difficult to reduce their calorie and fat intake without sacrificing taste. Pretzel Crisps® are a great option for my clients to maintain a heart healthy, low calorie diet. For those with special medical needs like diabetes and/or high cholesterol, Pretzels Crisps® does not contain trans or saturated fats and have only 21-23 grams of carbohydrate per serving (1 ½ carbohydrate exchanges). People with diabetes can easily fit Pretzel Crisps® in carbohydrate meal plan as a snack or with a meals not raise blood glucose levels dramatically. They also do not contain any saturated and trans fat so they a great choice for those following a diet to reduce their cholesterol and manage their heart health. Pretzel Crisps® easily fit in car glove compartments, lockers, backpacks, purses and desk drawers, making them great for travel or the “on the go†busy professional. These fat free and low calorie treats never sacrifice taste and definitely satisfy that “salt craving†we all house. Pretzel Crisps® come in a variety of different flavors so you never get bored. You can also add these crunchy and versatile snacks to your favorite yogurt, as a salad topper, or create something new on your own. Have fun with them. I know I do. What do I think?
I was sent a variety of Pretzel Crisps® flavors to try out and so far I`m in love! While I honestly wouldn`t give up chocolate for them, I do incorporate them and alternate eating these along with my other snacks. The thing is is these contain 0g of Trans Fat, 0g of Saturated Fat, 0mg of Cholesterol and only 110 calories per serving. I like pretzels, but generally I`m rather picky about the brand and style I eat if you don`t count the big soft ones because I love those with butter and cinnamon - of course that`s a different topic there.
I found the Pretzel Crisps® you could taste the pretzel flavor but it blended in with the flavor each pretzel was. For example the Buffalo Wing Pretzel Crisps® I could taste the pretzel, the spice and the buffalo sauce flavor all together and the same goes with all the other flavors. They are crispy, yet fresh yet completely a unique product from others I have tasted. It`s rather hard to put it into words.
Needless to say, I am very pleased with the product and the flavors. The only problem I encountered are all the crumbs I make from overly enjoying them! Would I recommend Pretzel Crisps®? Absolutely! They are high quality and a healthy snack alternative. I don`t think you`ll be disappointed. Plus they`re easily available at your local Walgreens and other stores! As for me, I`m off to try some suggested pretzel pairings with my pretzels!
P.S. - Did I mention that Pretzel Crisps® actually fills MORE than half the bag full of their product rather than giving you half a bag of air?! Yes, that seriously excites me. So you actually have a reason to use the re-sealable bag!
