If you are looking for an adorable book for the kids, The Little Squirrel Who Worried by Katie O’Donoghue is a must-read!

About the Book
Little Squirrel hasn’t left his nest since last autumn. He needs to gather nuts for the long winter to come but he’s too worried to leave his cozy nest. Luckily, Little Squirrel has lots of friends in the forest, from Wren to Snuffly Hedgehog, Grey Rabbit to Mister Fox, Old Badger to Great Stag. Will their encouragement and words of advice be enough to help Little Squirrel to venture out?

About the Author
Katie O’Donoghue is a child and young people’s therapist with a background in fine art and design and a master’s degree in Art Psychotherapy. Through the gentle story of Little Squirrel and his adventures in the forest, readers come to learn coping techniques and to realize that although we all feel worried at times, we don’t have to face those worries alone.

I homeschool my children and my son is in 2nd grade and in the beginning stages of learning to read. This book is 48 pages long and is recommended for grades 3-4. So it's a bit more advanced for him, but it's the next level up from where he is at. So it is perfect for us to read through together and work towards his next reading goal.

I love that the book uses slightly larger print to make it easier to read and also has some wonderful illustrations. For young readers, I find illustrations help keep their interest in the book, especially when they are still learning to read.

My son really enjoyed us reading the book together and he really loved the story! It is set up like an intro to chapter books. It has a continuing story, but divided into sections as a chapter book is. The only difference is it is not labeled as chapters. This is a great way to read a bit at a time for his age and work on transitioning from his shorter books, to longer books.

Aside from being a great learning tool for us, the book is amazing. I love the hard cover. I love the graphics. And I love the overall story. This book is certainly recommended and was loved in our house. If you have younger children, I certainly think you will enjoy the book as well!
