A lot of people don’t really know how to use weight lifting wrist straps properly, or they consider them as a tool for cheating that will hinder gains. Yes, wrist straps have been getting a bad wrap (cheesy pun intended) but I’m here today to tell you that if used properly they can be very useful. Wrist wraps are intended to enhance your grip around a barbell, dumbbell or resistance cable machine. The wraps force you to concentrate on target muscle groups when exercising by securing your wrist to a weight. Wrist wraps can also lessen the stress and fatigue your wrists and hands experience during a weightlifting session. Wrist wraps are a basic and effective weightlifting accessory. The straps are manufactured with durable fabrics like nylon, cotton, leather and suede. The lifting aid is designed with a loop and long strap that are sewn together at opposite ends; or sometimes with Velcro closures. To wear weightlifting straps, first place you hand through the loop and allow the strap to hang between your thumb and index finger. Subsequently, firmly bind the strap around your wrist and entirely enfold the strap around a bar twice. Lastly, again secure the wrist wrap by passing the strap through the loop. If you`re looking for wraps, these are it! These wrist wraps really help to support my wrists. These wraps are more durable than some others I`ve used. They do not tend to fray as much (due to the velcro hitting the material) as some others I`ve used. They`re nice and wide, 3", and 18 inches long. Wrist wraps do not only have to be used for weight lifting however, you can use these for any activity in which you could use some extra support. The lifting straps are not worn at the same time as the wrist wraps. The lifting straps are used to give you a more secure grip on a bar. They`re great for using during deadlifts, for instance. Some people use them when doing chin-ups. The lifting straps will help you keep your grip on the bar by transferring some of the weight of the bar to your wrist which helps you to maintain a firm grip. This helps you maintain control and results in safer lifts. Both the wrist wraps and lifting straps are hand washable and air dryable. These took all the pain away in my wrist and never loosened up. The velcro is very good quality as well. I would highly recommend these to anyone!
