If you’re a coffee-lover, chances are you’ve definitely heard of
Atlas Coffee Club. For the unacquainted, it’s a direct-to-consumer coffee subscription service that ethically sources high-quality coffee from a new country each month and delivers a bag of freshly roasted beans right to your front door. Well, recently, I found out that the same company launched a brand new service for tea lovers,
Atlas Tea Club.
Tea is a magical thing. It can soothe the soul, calm the nerves, and relax the body. For those who like to try new things, there are seemingly endless varieties to explore.
Jump Ahead:
What Is Atlas Tea Club?
Atlas Tea Club is a DTC (direct to consumer)
tea subscription service that sources premium loose leaf teas from different countries each month and delivers a curated box right to your doorstep. Just like with their coffee boxes, Atlas has gone the extra mile to create a sort of immersive experience with their tea boxes, with the intention to connect you to different tea cultures around the world.
Each shipment includes two 40-gram bags of tea leaves, recyclable tea filters packed in a tiny linen bag, steeping tips, tasting notes and a postcard from the country of origin so you can learn a bit about the history of tea culture in that particular region and what went into growing your leaves. Customers also have the option to choose between the caffeinated Tea World Tour or caffeine-free Herbal Tea Tour, and select their tea preference between green tea, black tea or a variety of pure teas. And unlike Atlas Coffee Club, you don’t have the option to customize the size of your tea bags, but you can choose your delivery frequency, opting to get a box every four or eight weeks.
You’ll also automatically be enrolled in a rewards program where you’ll receive points for the miles your tea travels, each country your teacup has visited, gifts you’ve purchased, and friends you’ve referred. You can then use those points towards discounts, store credit, and other benefits.
Where Are Your Teas Sourced From?
Atlas Tea Club has plans to introduce customers to teas from Kenya, Thailand, Chile, South Africa, Japan, and Egypt. Eventually, you’ll cover over fifty countries, all while sitting on your couch. As for the selection of teas, it will include loose leaf teas ranging from black, green, oolong, white, herbal blends, and even a rare purple tea sourced from Kenya. “These are premium loose leaf teas that folks won’t be able to find in stores,” adds Meroni. The teas are also delivered within months of harvest to ensure optimal freshness.
Another equally important factor is that just like their coffee beans, the tea leaves are produced and purchased ethically. The company states on their website that they support the fair trade movement and ensure that farmers are paid above fair trade prices to help them sustain tea development over time. Atlas also works with local tea farmers in their own countries to provide resources for sustainable production.
How does Atlas Tea Club work?
The first thing to know is that Atlas Tea Club is a recurring subscription. When you sign up, you're agreeing to receive tea shipments on an ongoing basis. You'll enter your credit card information when you join, and you'll continue to be charged until you decide to cancel. Here are the steps you can expect to follow when you sign up for Atlas:
Fill out the questionnaire to personalize your subscription: When you sign up, you'll start by answering a few questions about your tea preferences. Do you like herbal tea? Prefer caffeinated?
Sit back and enjoy your tea each month or skip: Every month, you'll receive a new shipment of loose leaf tea. Need to skip a month or take a break? No problem.
How do I brew the teas in my Atlas Tea Club shipment?
If you're new to the world of loose leaf tea, it's easy to get started with Atlas Tea Club. There are brewing guides available on the Atlas Tea Club website, and you'll receive steeping bags with your first shipment to help get you started. If you'd like to start drinking loose leaf tea on a regular basis, I recommend picking up a
reusable tea infuser or strainer to cut down on waste and make your brewing experience just a little bit more special.
How much does Atlas Tea Club cost?
Atlas Tea Club subscriptions are flexible, and you'll indicate your tea preferences at signup. Regardless of what kinds of tea you prefer, each shipment contains 40 grams of tea for $14. Shipping is an additional $4.95.
Atlas Tea Club Shipping
Atlas Tea Club ships nationwide throughout the United States. International shipping is not yet offered. If you live outside the U.S. and would like to subscribe, keep an eye on the Atlas Tea Club website for shipping updates.
Atlas Tea Club shipments are securely packed in a brown cardboard box. Tea is packaged in sealed pouches that help preserve the freshness of the tea, and you'll find information about each shipment on cards included in your shipment.
If you enjoy tea or occasionally like to switch up your coffee routine with a cup of tea, and want to learn about the background of your leaves, an Atlas Tea Club subscription is worth a try!
