Why is it that when we think of birthday parties or parties in general, we think of children or young people? Can adults not have birthday parties? And let us not even dare to think of having a party for senior citizens.
Maybe it is just where I am, but I do not see a lot of celebrations happening for our senior people and maybe we should change that.
If your senior citizen still lives in their home, get them the
best home lifts on the market so they can move around their home easily – first of all. If I am a senior or any person with mobility issues, I want to feel as independent as possible, and a quality lift could give you that!
Now that we have that taken care of, let us get started with this party. No, do not just have the seniors sit around playing bingo. Do not get me wrong, I doubt they can play a fast-paced game of chase around the home, but we want them to have fun. So, think maybe arts and crafts. What about guessing games? Maybe card games? So, you still have games that require little movement but are involved and fun. You can
learn more ideas if you look up games for young kids or something similar.
And for the love of everything, do not forget to decorate! Just because they are older does not mean they do not appreciate good music and colorful balloons and décor. I mean, as a grown adult myself, I want colorful decorations. Think Lisa Frank style! Streamers, glitter, cardboard cutouts… the works!
One last thing to include – party favors! Grab some of the
best custom favor bags on the market and fill them with goodies. Obviously giving seniors hard candies or chewy/sticky candies is not a good idea. However, fill them with items they could always use or even things they enjoy.
Just because you are getting older does not mean you should not enjoy a good party. It just means the party needs to be adjusted accordingly. Seniors want to celebrate life, too. They do not want to feel forgotten. So, let us help them do just that – celebrate!
