Imagine having one item for everything -- house cleaning, skin care, and aromatherapy. That would be amazing, right? What if we told you there was something?
This "something" is Four Thieves Oil. It's been an aromatherapy staple for years, and a household family favorite. It's a miraculous blend of essential oils that enhance any daily routine with a yummy, slightly spicy aroma. After all, isn't cleaning and daily hygiene more fun with scent?
At this point, you're probably wondering what in the world Four Thieves Oil is. For those not in the loop, as mentioned above, it's a blend of five prominent essential oils. These oils are: Clove, Cinnamon, Rosemary, Lemon, and Eucalyptus. Together, the scent of these essential oils is both spicy as it is citrus-y, lending itself to a famous aroma.
How The Scent Came To Be
Time to talk about its history. The name Four Thieves came from the story of a band of, you guessed it, four robbers who during the Bubonic plague would steal from graves. Somehow, the thieves were able to make it through the plague, even with exposure to the deadly sickness, unscathed. This warranted a question from a judge during their ruling, and the four thieves let him on their secret: a mix of herbs with vinegar. Four Thieves was born.
With our knowledge today, there's no way this blend will save anyone from disease, but it's a long tale that lives on! For our sake, we can just enjoy the lovely scented mix they developed for household purposes.
What To Use The Scent In
Anything. Okay, that may be too broad. There is little this blend can't be added to for enjoyment. It can be placed in a vinegar-based cleaning spray to freshen countertops or bathrooms. Or, it can be added into an all-natural, homemade linen spray to spruce up your just-washed clothes. The only thing it can't be used for is cooking/drinking, but that's probably for the best anyway.
