How to make Kinetic Sand

You`ve all seen that cool kinetic sand by now. I know I`ve seen it in stores and think it`s absolutely addicting to play with! Well, now you can make your own! To just make a little…

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS
  1. Put sand in a container
  2. Add corn starch and mix thoroughly
  3. Mix water & dish soap, then add to sand
  4. Mix thoroughly and enjoy!!
  5. Store in a covered container.

Variation: Add dry tempera paint to sand when adding cornstarch to add some color to the sand.

NOTE: Adjust water depending on how wet your sand is, since this varies a LOT it’s impossible to tell you exactly how much you’ll need. I used 6 cups total in the BIG 50 pound recipe below and had to let it dry a little, which is fine to do. Don’t dump in 6 cups to start because your plain sand may be more wet than mine was. Where I bought it, they store the sand outside and it’s damp. The amount of moisture in your sand will make a big difference in how this turns out. But, if it gets more wet than you want, it’s fine just leave the top off of container and it will dry. You can store it in a sealed container. After 3 months ours did not smell and was not dry. But, if yours gets dry you can add water to it.
