Today is National Orchid Day! Are you excited? We are, since any excuse to celebrate beautiful blooms is 100% okay with us. At least, when those blooms also happen to be a favorite fragrance oil that we use year round. When that happens, it's basically fate we write a post about it.
So, let's first get acquainted with how National Orchid Day came about. Beware, it's bittersweet. A couple who loved the flower after volunteering at an orchid reserve named their daughter after it, Orchid. Sadly, they lost their daughter when she went into labor with her own child. On a mission to both honor her and the plant they loved dearly, they set out to create Orchid Day. The mission? To not only admire the Orchid but to use the day to show love to all of the important people in your life.
...That's a day we can get behind, pretty floral fragrance or not.
Now that you know the story, here are two ways to celebrate...Get your family involved and share the love!
Lemon "Orchid" Blend
To celebrate the day, we first bring to you an easy-to-diffuse blend. The mix of Orchid with Lemon makes an uplifting, feminine scent!
+ 3 Drops Orchid Fragrance Oil
+ 2 Drops Lemon Verbena Fragrance Oil
Sunny Days Soap
Make a great smelling hand soap to put in your bathroom so guests get a burst of early summer when they use it!
3/4 cup Distilled Water
1 tablespoon Vitamin E Oil (From emptying 100% Natural Vitamin E, 400 IU, 100 Softgels)
1 tablespoon Sweet Almond Oil
10-15 drops Orchid Fragrance Oil
First, add in the water to a pint-sized mason jar.
Next, add the castile soap, followed by all the oils.
Add a pump to it and go ahead, place in your bathroom!
Please note: While essential oils are the natural derivatives of plants, fragrance oils are manufactured scents, artificially created to mimic the aroma of natural plants and flowers.
