Are you a pet parent of an adorable pooch? I know I am! So we keep a stock supply of waste pick up bags in our house. Scooby is an inside dog all year all the time unless we go outside. Only then does she go out and spend time in the backyard with us as a family to run around and stretch and all that. Other than that, she is paper trained. Regardless, we still use waste bags for picking up. They help hold in the nasty odors that go along with the dog mess and honestly, are so much better to throw away the wet papers in - again, for reducing odor!
I recently stumbled across Doggy Do Good`s pet waste bags and was curious about them. The first thing that stood out to me about their company is this:
Doggy Do Good has love for all animals, not just our furry family members. That is why we donate a portion of our proceeds to reputable animal rescues and no-kill shelters. We pledge to donate no less than 10% of our profit on a monthly basis, divided equally, to the organizations below.
I then read on to see why their product is so special and different compared to others. This is what their website says:
Our bags are Vegetable-Based and a great alternative to regular polyethylene plastic bags. Made from corn-starch (an annually renewable resource) and other biobased proprietary components, our bags are safe for the environment and break down in just 90 days. That’s the Doggy Do Good difference!
So of course, naturally, I wanted to see for myself. Since I`ve tested a good bit of brands of doggy waste bags with Scooby, I figured I would be a good candidate for this.
After my bags shipped out, they arrived rather quickly - within just a few days, less than a week of shipping. So that was a plus. Upon opening the box (which you can see my first initial reaction in the video I posted above) I discovered why these bags are amazing. These bags are such good quality compared to others. I`m used to thin, easily ripping apart bags. You know, the ones that rip on you when just detaching them out the package to use... Well, these do not have that issue. The bag is thicker and stronger (Approx. 20 Microns / .80 Mils). It`s also a bit larger than what I`m used to. The ones I`ve come across are about half the size of these in width and can be a struggle to use on large "land mine piles." While the ones I currently use are fine for Scooby, a medium-sized dog, they would not be ideal for my next door neighbors dog, who is a mixed lab retriever and makes mountains compared to Scooby! Even so, though, having a larger amount of room is just honestly more convenient, but it`s not too big.
On top of that, I love that these are 100% Biodegradable & Certified Compostable. That just makes me feel a lot better about using these compared to other brands because of that. I`m not an "environmental nut" where I go out of my way for such products, but if I find one that I enjoy and works well, I will certainly go out of my way to keep buying it - make sense? I mean, what`s remarkable about these is that the bag breaks down in just 90 days! So they don`t have to sit out years upon years for the process to even take place.
Basically, these bags are on the top of my list when it comes to the #1 waste bags in my experience. They have everything you would want in a bag and still maintains that small compact roll so you can still use them in your little leash clip dispensers. So the breakdown: high quality, thicker, larger, and biodegradable - yea, take my money! I know where I`ll be purchasing my waste bags for Scooby from now on!
