Do you love enjoying new food? How about subscription boxes? If you said yes to one or both of those questions, then you definitely want to check out this German Food Box! I tried it out for the first time and had a lot of fun with it!
German Food Box is a subscription company that sends monthly packages of authentic German food products! These boxes contain varied items of german food. All subscribers to German Food Box receive their boxes with 6-8 different items every month. Every German Food Box is curated by experts who carefully selects a collection of products that are most representative of the German cuisine. You can pause or cancel your subscription at any time.

So how does it work?

Second: You will receive a box every month delivered directly to your home.
Last: Enjoy the best foods from Germany in your home!
When the box ships depend on the date you ordered the box. They ship the boxes once per month, and to be specific, always in the middle of the month. If you order up to the 10th of a month, you will get your first box in that current month, as long as it is not already sold out then. If you order after the 10th of a month, you will receive your first box in the following month. In the event your first box is sold out, you will get your first box in the following month. Pretty simple!
As I first mentioned, this was my first time ever trying this box. I love trying new things, especially food from around the world. The first thing I noticed about my box was nice packaging. Presentation is always a great start and the box itself drew me in immediately. Once I opened the package I noticed all my goodies were carefully packaged and included a recipe card as well as a small business-sized card to let me know who packaged my box. In my case, my box was packaged by Debbie. Thanks, Debbie!
Inside my box, I received the following food items: Black Forest Noodles, Maoam Bloxx Candy, Milchreis Rice Pudding, Goldsaft Sugar Beet Syrup, Pickles, Familien Suppe, a type of bread and Pfeffer Rahm Medaillons. Unfortunately, no product card came in the box to let me know about each product, which would have been nice to help assist in product knowledge. However, on the back of the packaging, if the instructions were not placed in English, they places a sticker with the English version of ingredients and how to cook, which was quite helpful.
First up, I tried the pickles. It doesn't say what it is on the jar, but the ingredients made it pretty obvious. Basically, they tasted like bread and butter pickles or something similar along those lines. These were very flavorful. Unlike our pickles, which are circles, whole, or spheres, these were made in chunks. I actually like this version and wish our pickles were done this way! I just about ate the whole jar in one sitting because I liked them so much!
Next, I tried the bread. I'm not quite sure the name since it has been since eaten, but it was unique with an interesting texture. I love the various bits of nuts/oats in the bread. Although the flavor and texture can take some getting used to. I was the only one out of my kids and husband who liked it. It tastes even better dipped in the soup! I also tried it with the sugar beet syrup. It wasn't bad, but it was interesting.
Then I made it a point to try the Maoam Bloxx Candy. These are addictingly DELICIOUS! Even my super picky husband enjoyed these! Like I seriously enjoyed them so much I have some sitting in my cart on Amazon for a future purchase. It's quite pricey to get it shipped here, but trust me, these candies are worth it!
Finally, I made a German-themed lunch with soup, noodles, and the medaillons sauce. The soup was one the whole family enjoyed. I didn't particularly like the ball things in it, but it otherwise had a familiar, yet different taste to it that was quite enjoyable. I was surprised that my 6-year-old had asked for a second helping! The noodles are simply egg noodles which is why I made the Pfeffer-Rahm Medaillons to flavor it a bit. I served it on the side since I wasn't sure how it would be liked by the rest of the family. It had an interesting flavor to me so I added some Slap Yo Mama seasoning to it and it enhanced the flavor when I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the rest of my family didn't care for it. To be fair, I am the one who likes trying new things and can enjoy something that's different, even if I need to get used to the flavor, etc. Them, on the other hand, are picky eaters and don't tend to be as adventurous as me. My 6-year-old is a bit more adventurous than the other, but not by too much.
Later on, I made the Dr. Oetker Milchreis Rice Pudding, which was pretty interesting as well. With this, you can add fruit or other various toppings (such as the sugar beet syrup) to really enhance the flavor.
Overall, this has been an amazing experience. I had fun trying new foods. Even if the rest of the family wasn't too thrilled with how it came out, it was also a great learning experience since we also homeschool. It was a great way to bring in a little German culture and make it a topic of discussion as well as try new things we may not otherwise get to experience. I would definitely get this box again and I definitely recommend it. I'd love to try more German products!
