If you're looking for a super fun gift idea for the upcoming holiday season, the GOTRAX™ HOVERFLY Hoverboard is certainly the way to go! Let me start off by saying - they make this look a LOT easier than what it is. Okay, Okay, kids can do it but adults - not so much. Fine, I'm letting my jealousy get ahead of myself. Let me explain. This is the first hoverboard we have owned. My 9-year-old daughter has had a chance to play on them at other family member homes, but we, ourselves, have not had a chance to own one - until now. When checking out the hoverboard, I figured I'd check it out for myself before handing it over to the kids. I have NEVER been on a hoverboard so I didn't really know what to expect. Well, I used to be good at balancing myself, now, at 30-years-old, not so much! So, I handed it over my husband to check out - he busted his butt because, like me, the balancing act just isn't what it used to be. So, we brought our my 9-year-old daughter to try it. Afterall, we can catch her if she falls. She needed help to get on it initially, but once on - she just went like it was nothing! Are you kidding me?!?!  Oh, how I miss those days of being younger, more fit, and able to do just about anything! So, bottom line, if you're getting older and can't balance at all, this is not for you. If you have a child - they're going to make you feel ridiculous because they can do it as easy as eating a piece of cake! (I should also mention I can barely roller skate anymore either in all fairness). 

 

In all seriousness, though, this hoverboard is very well made. It's got a good bit of weight to it (as you can see in my above video review) and seem rather sturdy. I was impressed that it was already charged and ready to go when it came in. Hoverboards generally need charging (which this one does need to get re-charged between uses), but the fact it was ready to go right out the box was exciting for us. My daughter has been having blast with this thing and it seems to hold a pretty good battery life. The hoverboard is easy to turn on and off as it has a power button that you just press to do so. Also, the charging cord is a pretty good length as well so charging it should not be an issue and you can have the hoverboard out the way between uses. I particularly love the lights on the hoverboard as well. They change colors which make it even more exciting and also a nice safety feature. As far as noice level goes, it's not loud at all so it won't be distracting to you or your neighbors.

 

Ultimately, this thing is a lot of fun and perfect for kids and teenagers. Heck, even adults can have fun on it - you just have to learn to balance yourself! There's a nice variety of colors to choose from rather than the boring old standard black that you see on everything. As you can see, I went with the pink and was not disappointed. Would I recommend this? Absolutely!
