Americans drink more coffee than tap water and I am no exception to that fact. 66% of Americans drink coffee each day, more than any other beverage including tap water, and up by nearly 14% since January 2021, the largest increase since the National Coffee Association began tracking data. According to the National Coffee Data Trends 2022 report, home coffee consumption remains above pre-pandemic levels with nearly 84% of coffee drinkers enjoying a cup of coffee at home. In fact, coffee consumption has soared to a two-decade high as Americans brew up new post-COVID routines, according to exclusive consumer polling by the National Coffee Association (NCA).
I love my coffee and drink it every morning. I'm pretty sure it's just out of habit rather than actually giving me energy, but I love my morning coffee, nonetheless.
National Coffee Day is on Thursday, September 29th, just a few days away, and International Coffee Day is Saturday, October 1st. So, of course, I was excited to try a brand new coffee, well, new to me, just in time for celebrating my coffee addiction!
Out of the Grey Coffee sent me a couple of coffees to try and I was not disappointed!
What is Out of the Grey Coffee?
Out Of The Grey Coffee® is a custom small batch coffee roaster & tea merchant based on the top of Tobacco Row Mountain, Virginia. We use two classic drum roasters equipped with advanced temperature control systems to ensure that our results are consistent & repeatable. We roast to order in small batches & then send the coffee to our customers so quickly that it retains that just roasted aroma & arrives "almost still warm". In packaging the coffee, we use the highest quality block bottom & side gusseted bags with the best one-way degassing valve available. These bags also have a pull tab, which makes it easy to open & an additional internal Ziploc® for the customer to use once the original heat fused seal is broken allowing them to keep their coffee and our brand visible until their next order. We are dedicated to offering quality beans, exceptionally roasted coffees & customized blends from exotic faraway coffee lands. Our roasting process highlights the attributes inherent in the beans. We have selectively stocked over 25 different coffee beans from around the world & offer over 181 coffee creations. We also offer our customers the opportunity & ability to design & create their custom roasted blends & flavored coffees. There are unlimited possibilities to delight your unique preferences. Plain & simple: Our promise is to strive to treat You—our customers—as we would like to be treated. Our pursuit of exceptional coffee is a lifelong journey of discovery & delight. Whether in one of our cafes, coffee bars or at home, we hope you will join us for a cup of the highest quality & most scrumptiously delicious coffee & tea on the planet.

When I was offered to try Out of the Grey Coffee, I was overwhelmed with the coffee options to try. I didn't know where to begin because I love trying new varieties and discovering new flavors. And sometimes, I just do better when someone else recommends a flavor to me if I am being honest. So I told them to surprise me.
The Sea Turtle Mocha Coffee is a creamy caramel, crunchy roasted pecans, smooth sweet milk chocolate & savory sea salt that will fulfill your craving & take you to your happy place. It is the perfect choice for coffee drinkers suffering from digestive issues, or those that just prefer low acidic coffees with a higher level of antioxidants.
The Royal Kona Estate Extra Fancy Specialty Coffee is a deep, sweet fruit-toned complexity with dark chocolate, musky lily, strawberry, watermelon & roasted almond flavors, round, vibrant acidity & full, syrupy mouthfeel.
Upon my coffee arriving in the mail, I could smell the aroma coming from the box. Right away, I knew this coffee would be amazing. It smelt amazing - even while it was 100% sealed!
Now, I use a Keurig K-cup machine so I had to dig out my reusable K-cup to use the coffee as they do not offer k-cup styles. In the past, I had issues with my reusable k-cup leaving grounds in my coffee. Now, while I'm not sure if it was a coffee issue, machine issue, or k-cup issue, this go round, I did not get any grounds in my coffee! So that was already a plus!
For both coffee flavors, I added sugar and heavy whipping cream, which is what I normally add whenever I drink hot coffee at home. For both coffee flavors, I found the coffee was very smooth. It tasted fresh and smooth - something only other coffee drinks could truly understand. It didn't have a cheap bitter taste - which I have experienced in the past with cheap off-brands at times. I mean, you could really taste the flavor and the difference between the two. I found the coffee was aromatically stimulating as well as flavorful.
While I did love both flavors and it would be wrong if you asked me to choose just one, if I had to choose a favorite of the two, I'm not sure I could. I love them both. If you're in a more sweet mood, the
Sea Turtle Mocha Coffee would probably be the better option of the two. It's not super sweet but had that hint of sweetness that could hit the sweet craving without the overly sweet flavor - if that makes sense.
As I said, I cannot simply choose just one. They both taste great. However, if neither of these flavors sounds right for you, Out of the Grey Coffee has a large selection to choose from. You can check their
