Mother's Day is coming quickly and OOLY is perfect for homemade Mother’s Day gifts for mom or grandma.

 

I seriously have a thing for art supplies, business supplies, planners, pens, etc. Maybe it just makes me feel more organized? Being a mom, homeschooler, and blogger, you best believe I have a planner and a HUGE wall calendar to keep track of our appointments and schedules. Of course, what's a planner and calendar without a little color right?! I honestly could not tell you. Lucky for me, I was sent a couple of things from OOLY to check out for myself and I was not disappointed!

 

 

OOLY sent me their color write fountain pens - set of 8 (a $14.99 value) and their calligraphy duo chisel and brush tip markers (a $16.99 value) - both were perfect for when I get in my doodle moods. So I'll start off with the fountain pens. 

 

 

The Color Write Fountain Pens were amazing compared to others I have tried. The only difficulty was getting started - which really wasn't that hard either. 

 

For these pens, before you get started, you need to open them and insert the ink cartridge (already inside the pen barrel) and shake or scribble with the pen a few seconds to get the ink flowing (see GIF image below).

 

 

Once you do that, the pens are ready to go. While doing this can be a bit time consuming when you're first starting out with the pens, once this is done, the pens write smoothly and effortlessly without skipping. Other fountain pens I have used tend to not write very smoothly or the ink skips. I did not experience that all with this pen and was pleasantly surprised by how well it wrote and overall function of the pen. When the ink runs out, you can easily buy refill cartridges to replace the used one without having to buy a whole new pen set.

 

 

For the dual Calligraphy Markers, I found they, too, wrote and colored smoothly and effortlessly. Unlike the fountain pens, the markers did not require any special treatment to get started and were ready to be used instantly.

 

The Calligraphy Duo set has 12 colored dual tip calligraphy markers so you can create beautiful calligraphy writing and brush lettering in one set. The calligraphy markers are dual tipped with one side a 2.0mm chisel tip marker for more traditional calligraphy writing. The other side of the marker is a 3.0mm felt brush tip so you can create stunning brush lettering.

 

While I am certainly no artist, I do enjoy adult coloring books and random doodling, which is how I enjoyed the first use of my new markers and as I mentioned above, they did not let me down. The markers are comfortable to grip and use and the colors really do stand out. I love how effortless it is to apply the color and no need to 'rough handle' the markers to get them to work properly. 

 

Ultimately, I found my experience with both OOLY brand products to be amazing. Both products were high-quality, easy to use, comfortable to hold, and overall affordable for the average household. Whether a gift for yourself or for another parent you know, I can honestly recommend giving the OOLY brand a try. You certainly will not be disappointed!
