HANDMADE CERAMIC “SEA GLASS” BOWL: This dish was inspired by sea glass sometimes found on the shoes of the Mediterranean. Vered of VIBceramics hand crafted this special bowl as a way to share the beauty of the coastline. It was hand-signed by the artist and kiln-fired twice at high temperature to become dish-washer safe stoneware. BYZANTINE SEA GLASS: Found on the Mediterranean coastline below a Crusader-era fortress near the ancient city of Apolonia, these sea glass pieces originate from an ancient glass workshop operational during the late Byzantine period. Experts estimate that artisans produced these glass pieces more than 800 years ago. Since then, these glass pieces were naturally shaped and polished by the sea, sand, wind and tidal forces. About Earth Wax and Fire
After many years of working long hours in high-tech, we were craving a change. We wanted more time with our girl and boy (then 5 and 3) and we wanted to live lives more in-tune with our hearts and souls. So, we leaped out into the unknown to try something new. Vered pursued ceramics and volunteer work. Dan did marketing writing for startup clients and started some ventures of his own. We spent more time walking on the beach, collecting sea glass, and dealing with life’s challenges. Together, we created Earth Wax and Fire featuring locally-sourced candles and Vered’s ceramic creations. One of the things we’re trying to do as a family is build Earth Wax and Fire into a force for good. In addition to supporting local businesses, we run special fund-raising promotions for worthy causes, including the TS Alliance, the West High School Dance Marathon, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the American Diabetes Association, and the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson`s Research.
I absolutely love candles, gemstones, rocks, and cool home decor. That`s why when my items from Earth Wax and Fire came in, I was so excited! Not only did I find that the box was beautifully wrapped, but the candle smells absolutely amazing! On top of that, the sea glass is gorgeous and makes a perfect accent around the candle as it sits in the dish and burns. I`ve been burning my candle little bit by little bit each night. The fragrance is very subtle while it`s burning, but the candle looks gorgeous, especially while sitting in the handmade dish that the gift set came with. Both the candle and the sea glass are high quality and seem well made. Not to mention more stunning in person than the photos can show. The handmade dish has a very attractive design to it, too.
