Living in the South is terrible come summertime with all the gnats and mosquitoes. I've tried many sprays, including the popular brands (Cutter, etc) and they honestly do not work for me. I'm the type the seriously attracts mosquitoes and basically becomes a human buffet.
As an
Avon rep, I was super excited when they announced the
Bug Guard products - which is
America's #1 Bug repellent. I was honestly skeptical at first because, as I said, nothing has ever worked for me. So we're going to look at two amazing products. One that will stop the itch if you have already been bitten and one to prevent those bugs from getting to you.
For this review, I personally purchased and paid for these products. I was not provided them for free as I often am for reviews. I honestly
love these products and want to help others who are tired of never finding a good repellent. With that being said, we will be looking at the
Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus Picaridin Aerosol Spray and the
Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus Anti-Itch Spray. What's even better, as of this review writing, each item is on
SALE - no coupon code needed!

So as I said in the beginning, nothing has ever honestly worked for me to keep the bugs away. I would just end up smelling like bug spray, feeling sticky, and still getting eaten alive. Maybe not as much, but nonetheless, I would still keep getting bitten by these terrible mosquitoes. Apparently, I have that blood that seriously attracts them (yes, there is actually evidence and facts about this - saw it on a Bill Nye Saves the World episode). So I grabbed the Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus Picaridin Aerosol Spray and the Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus Anti-Itch Spray while they were on sale and hoped for the best.
When they arrived, I already had bites that were itching me like crazy. What's worse is that the bites were in my upper thigh so I looked terrible and tried to avoid scratching the itch. I mean, really?! Couldn't they have at least stuck with my arms?! So after showering for the night, I applied the
Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus Anti-Itch Spray. Legit, the itching stopped within seconds and I felt relief. I had relief for a few hours up until I went for a walk and my pants basically rubbed it off. So it may have lasted longer if not for those darn pants. Either way, though, the spray worked. No burning at all. Plus, it doesn't smell bad! There is a big of a smell to it, but it's not a bad one or strong at all. Also, this can also be used on minor burns and such as well, not just bug bites. So definitely something to keep on hand in your first Aide kit for those
just in case moments.
The next time I knew I would be outside I actually remembered to give the
Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus Picaridin Aerosol Spray a try. Since it's hot, mosquitoes are almost always out now, especially this time of the year. I sprayed the bug guard on and hoped for the best. I noticed that unlike other sprays I used, this one didn't stink. It has a nice fragrance to it. You can tell it's bug spray, but I found it wasn't off-putting like others. Once it absorbs into your skin/dries, your skin isn't left feeling sticky or gooey either. After being outside in the early evening for a few hours (when the mosquitoes are at their worst in my area), I had
not been bitten once! Seriously, that was amazing! I expected one or two to slip through, but alas, they did not.
Honestly, these were the two most amazing summer finds. Bug sprays that actually work! I highly recommend them and especially recommend you grab them while they're on sale. They're already affordable at their every day rates, but a sale always makes everything better.
