Being a new parent is stressful, no matter the situation. There is a lot of adjusting to a variety of aspects of your new life as a parent. One thing many moms tend to experience during their pregnancy and after giving birth is weight gain. Some moms gain just a small bit of weight that quickly goes away while others gain a ton of weight that seems to stick. I mean so much so a weight lift may be needed (

So, to get that weight gain under control, here are a few suggestions I have to start immediately.
First, start walking every day. If you can only do a little bit at a time, that is fine. Something is better than nothing. If you rather jog or run instead of walk, that is even better. It is getting that cardio going and those muscles moving that will make a difference.
Some people even find doing some yoga with those walks or runs an added benefit. Remember, the more exercise and working out you do, the better it is for you. Not to mention the more you do, the faster you are likely to get back into shape.
In addition to doing small workouts and exercise, eating healthy is the next step.
As a parent, believe me, it is so much more convenient to grab a bag of chips rather than some carrot sticks. However, that will not help. Eating right not only helps you physically but mentally as well. Trust me, with kids, that is just as important!
A final suggestion – take mental health days. While that may not sound like much, being too stressed can also lead to weight gain. Not to mention too much stress is unhealthy. If possible, get a babysitter, even if long enough to soak in the tub for 45 minutes for your own peace of mind. This will do wonders for your mood and help keep that stress weight off!
