What You`ll Need
A base oil (Sweet Almond, Jojoba, Avocado, or Coconut Oil) Essential oil(s) (Lavender, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Tea Tree, or Rose) Microwave-safe bowl Towel(s) and/or a Shower Cap Hair Brush/Comb Gentle Shampoo Hydrating Conditioner
Step 1
Fill your microwave-safe bowl with 6 tablespoons of your base oil. If you have longer hair, you will want to add more oil. Use your best judgment!
Step 2
Add your essential oils to the bowl, keeping in mind the golden rule of 8-10 drops of essential oil per 1 ounce of carrier (base) oil. Mix well with a spoon.
Step 3
Microwave the bowl on high for 10 seconds. Brush your hair out during, making sure to get out all the knots and tangles. Test the oil on your wrist once it's done microwaving to make sure it`s not too hot - ”you don`t want to burn your scalp!
Step 4
Wrap a towel around your shoulders and lean your head over the sink. Slowly pour the oil over your hair, massaging into your scalp and roots. Pour the rest over the remaining strands of hair and massage until saturated.
Step 5
Continue to massage the oil into your hair and scalp for about 2 minutes, then wrap your hair in a towel or shower cap. Leave in for 30 minutes to ensure the oil penetrates each shaft of hair.
Step 6
Remove the towel or shower cap and hop in the shower, rinsing the oil. Apply shampoo and conditioner as you normally would and rinse thoroughly to make sure all the oil is removed from your hair.
Step 7
Brush/comb your hair gently until smooth and let air-dry. Repeat once every week or two to help maintain lush moisture!
