When we think about spring cleaning, we usually think of our immediate environments. Is the living room organized? When did the refrigerator last get cleaned? Yet, we very rarely think about the air within our homes, or the aromas surrounding them. That's why this year, to make spring cleaning a bit more aromatic, we're piecing together DIY Smudge Sticks.
Smudge sticks are a bundle of herbs and flowers that when lit, smoke. In turn, this gives off a waft of delicious, soothing scents and makes any area much more welcoming. Traditionally, smudge sticks have been made with sage, since its long been tied to its ability to "cleanse the bad energy" out of a place. While that's a fun concept, these DIY Smudge Sticks simply promise to make your home smell phenomenal.
Forget the canned air freshener, and enjoy a natural way to fill your home with clear air this season!
Here's how to make it:
First gather your materials:
Dried Lavender Flowers (optional)
Lavender 100% Pure Essential Oil
Twine
Then, simply do the following:
STEP 1. Layer the sage leaves atop one another.
STEP 2. Use the twill and wrap the stems together.
STEP 3. Continue to wrap the twill upward making sure to pull tightly.
Note: using dried lavender, add it in between the leaves to keep them in place.
STEP 4. Add a few drops of essential oil and enjoy!
