Tamanu oil originates from a nut grown from the Ati tree in the South Pacific called the tamanu nut. It has been used for hundreds of years to clear up essentially any skin condition. It is a secret that's been forgotten, but the benefits of tamanu oil are slowly being realized again and are trending worldwide.
Recently, I had a chance to try out the
Prime Natural Organic Tamanu Oil and super excited about it. Why? Well, I discovered Tamanu oil has potent healing properties and is excellent when used in natural remedies for scars, acne, rosacea, abrasions, psoriasis, eczema, stretch marks, age spots, toenail fungus, sunburn, skin rashes, insect bites, blisters, dermatitis and more. Furthermore, it can also be massaged into the skin to relieve rheumatism, sciatica, and neuralgia.
You see, Tamanu oil holds a unique process called cicatrization. Cicatrization is the process known as "wound healing." Because it possesses the unique process of cicatrization, the oil has the capacity to encourage the generation of new tissue, accelerate wound healing and stimulate the growth of healthy skin cells.
Take a look at this list of healing properties:

Some uses of Tamanu Oil are:
Nourish, Soften, Smooth & Radiant Skin:
Organic Tamanu oil is well known for its anti-aging, antibiotic & anti-inflammatory properties. Apply directly to your skin or add to your daily moisturizer or mix it with your favorite essential oil (try our organic frankincense/myrrh/geranium oil). It is easy to use all over the body, including the face and neck. Just smooth a few drops into your skin using gentle rubbing motions, as you would any face and body lotion.
Treat Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis & Nail Infection:
Apply Organic Tamanu oil directly to the affected areas. The high concentration of fatty acids restores hydration and softness to the skin. It can be used to treat eczema, rosacea & psoriasis. Apply 2-4 drop of Organic Tamanu oil on the infected nails and itchy skin between toenails. Repeat as needed until the infection subsides.
Treat Acne, Black Heads, Dark Spots, Hyperpigmentation & Face Serum:
Dab 2-4 drops onto the affected area using a cotton swab or cotton ball to treat and reduce future breakouts. You can mix it with Prime Natural organic geranium/myrrh/frankincense/lavender oil to use it as a deep pore cleanser and toner. It absorbs easily & penetrates all three layers of the skin to accelerate healing, fade scars, and to stimulate the growth of healthy new skin tissue. Applying a few drops of Organic Tamanu oil to skin afflicted by acne after cleansing and patting dry ensures that essential moisture and nutrients are introduced to clean, dry skin. Rubbing in gently and repeating twice daily can help clear up mild acne as well as balancing oily or dry skin.
Dry Skin Conditions:
Applying a small amount of oil directly to the afflicted skin and massaging in gently can provide relief and encourage healing.

Smoothing a few drops of Organic Tamanu oil into sore or damaged skin helps to speed up the healing process.

Organic Tamanu oil also works as antiseptic & anti-inflammatory oil. It helps cures minor skin cuts, rashes or even burns. you may even use it for healing insect bites
Anti-Aging:
Tamanu Oil gives skin a youthful glow and reduces the visibility of wrinkles. Its anti-oxidant effect makes Organic Tamanu oil the ideal anti-aging product. It restores elasticity and leaves skin feeling plumper and softer. The best way to apply Organic Tamanu oil for the most prominent anti-aging effects is to massage a few drops into your face and neck before bed. It acts as a moisturizer and anti-ager all in one. Dab 2-4 drops onto the affected area using a cotton swab or cotton ball to treat and reduce future breakouts. You can mix it with Prime Natural organic geranium/myrrh/frankincense/lavender oil to use it as a deep pore cleanser and toner. It will not only cleanse impurities but will also leave your skin smelling good.
Healthy & Silky Hair- Repair & Stimulate Hair Growth:
Organic Tamanu oil is an excellent source of unique fatty acid (CALOPHYLLIC acid) and other nutrients. It nourishes your hair to make it soft, silky, smooth & radiant. Apply a few drops onto your dry or damp hair, focusing on split ends, or scalp to nourish follicles. It helps stimulate hair growth, counter dandruff, repair split ends, nourish, thicken and strengthen the hair, prevent hair breakage, stimulate blood flow to the scalp & counteracts an itchy scalp.
Foot, Hand, and Nail Treatment:
Organic Tamanu oil’s softening properties are ideal for brittle nails, dry hands and cracked, hard skin on feet. It both moisturizes and softens skin, leaving hands and feet supple and soft and nails strong and healthy. Try massaging a few drops of Organic Tamanu oil into cuticles, hands, and feet before bed each night.
Tamanu oil is highly absorbable by your skin and is suitable for all skin types. It is mild enough to use several times a day. However, as with any essential oil or carrier oil, be sure to perform a skin patch test before use, just to be sure you will not have an adverse reaction to it.
As for my experience, with the
Prime Natural Organic Tamanu Oil, I applied a couple of drops to my hair while it was damp after washing it. While I'm not sure about the hair growth part yet, I can say my scalp didn't itch or feel irritated from using it. Also, once my hair dried, it did feel silkier than usual. I don't generally have really dry hair so I may not be the best candidate to test how well it works for the hair. Nonetheless, I was curious. My hair also wasn't greasy after applying it either.
Next, I applied some to my dry feet. My feet tend to stay very dry. I'm guessing from a mix of living in the South with humid weather, always wearing flip flops, and because I'm now in my 30's. So I'm always using different products to help with that. While I'm not a fan of the fragrance of the Tamanu Oil, I found that applying it to my dry feet worked pretty well. I applied it after bathing, then would put on those super soft fuzzy-like socks to help the oil absorb into my feet. That worked pretty well. I also decided to 'up my game' and mix a small amount of the oil with some lotion for another use and I found that worked very well together.
Overall, from my experience, the Tamanu Oil works great for skin and hair for sure, especially those with dry skin looking to get moisturization back. I can honestly recommend the Prime Natural Tamanu Oil, especially since it's under $10 and you get FREE Prime shipping currently on Amazon!
