I am always looking to try new spices when cooking; especially on baked chicken. Yummy! With a
RawSpiceBar subscription, each month you receive 3 different spice blends created either by spice experts, top chefs or tried and trusted family recipes that have been used for generations. They search high and wide to bring you the most authentic spice blends used around the world to create dishes you otherwise wouldn`t have tried. Many of their spice blends & dishes are authentic to a specific region- but often they love bridging the flavor gap and incorporating new spice blends into familiar cuisines. Each of their freshly ground spice blends are perfectly portioned to create a dish serving 6-10. They`re on a mission to eliminate the waste all of those unused pre-ground spice jars from your cabinet that haven`t been used in years and have long past lost their flavor! Each of their spice blends come with at least 4-5 recipe ideas that they`ve kitchen tested and loved- and almost always will include a recipe suitable for vegans, carnivores and vegetarians alike. This month was focused on Ethiopian cuisine.
What`s in the monthly box:
- 3 freshly ground spices & blends with a new regional theme
- Kitchen-tested recipes for cooking 3 global dishes serving 4-6
- Receive 3 freshly made flavor kits, created with unique and new ingredients
I was pretty darn excited about this. I mean for only $8 a month you can`t go wrong?! Also, I do wish you got a bit more spice for $8; it is worth it because of the quality and uniqueness you get. I got 3 new spices I had never heard of and wow did they impress me!
In my package I received:
Schnitzel Spices
Juniper berries, cayenne peppers, bay leaves, black peppercorns spices
Horseradish & Mustard Seeds
Toasted brown mustard seeds, toasted yellow mustard seeds, horseradish powder
Caraway, Fennel, & Anise Bread
Caraway seeds, fennel seeds, star anise, coriander, spices
As I said, each spice was new to me and totally unique. It`s not something you can just pick up from your local grocery store. I was excited to try out all the different flavors. I particularly enjoyed the Schnitzel spices on some baked chicken I cooked. I was suprised with some of the suggested uses for the spices such as for the Caraway Cheese Soft Pretzels. The downfall to that is now I want more so I can use it on a regular basis! The RawSpiceBar subscription is definitely a unique one and fun for those who cook or enjoy using spices with their food. It`s also a great way to try new products without spending a lot of money. All in all, $8 is well worth what you get from this company because of the quality! If you`ve ever tried the spices I received in this box, feel free to share a good recipe using one or all of them!
