You guys already know I homeschool and that we enjoy art projects and coloring. If you've been following my blog, you may remember when I reviewed the
Kwik Stix. Well this time, we're trying the same product, but a different line. This one is
Thin Stix!
You can grab
Thin Stix Solid Tempera Paint at local stores, such as Target, on the crafting/school supply type aisles, or you can buy it online from retailers, such as Amazon. This particular pack will run you around $15.99 + $6.49 shipping; just for reference. Of course, Amazon pricing is known to change so check the price before ordering; it may go lower!
What is Kwik Stix?
Kwik Stix solve the dilemma of worry filled paint with mess free fun! The Kwik Stix Formula allows the paint to stay in a semi-solid form that can easily be pushed up or down depending on which way you twist the base of the stick. Similar to a glue stick, the more you twist, the more it goes up! With an array of brilliantly beautiful colors, Kwik Stix empower and encourage the user to experiment with the endless opportunities the colors provide! not only do the colors come with a variety of options, but these colors can be overlapped, masked and mixed to create any color imaginable!
Kwix Stix can draw on practically any surface your heart desires. the basics are covered like drawing on paper and coloring books. But, the fun doesn't stop there. They can be used to decorate cardboard creations, add any swirls and twirls to a school presentations' poster-board, and spruce up a wooden picture frame or jewelry box! These have the magic to deliver that beautiful design your brain wants to create!
Just like Kwik Stix, Thin Stix are solid tempera paint sticks. With the use of these Thin Stix you are now able to paint with finer detail without the mess. Just like the original Kwik Stix I tried, these are very easy to use and glide smoothly across the paper. No chunks come off like a crayon or pastel would do, but also they're not watery or drip like paint would do. The color is all smooth and just effortlessly applied. While it doesn't look wet, it is a slight bit. Don't worry, though! You only need to allow 90 seconds, max, for your art work to dry though. Best of all they work on a variety of surfaces: paper, canvas, posters, and even wood! Plus, as stated, they actually are a bit thinner than the original ones. Not super thin, just a slight bit of a difference.
As far as what I think? I absolutely love these just as much as the original Kwik Stix! Once again, they're not messy like paint and the art work comes out absolutely beautiful! Just as before when trying the original Kwik Stix, after doing the sample demo on the paper in the above image, the Thin Stix hardly looked used. Plus, they actually last a good amount of time. We got the original Kwik Stix before Christmas and those things are still keeping up with all of childrens art work! Get a little bit on your hands? No problem. These easily wash off.
Needless to say, I love the results of the artwork done with these, the ease of use, and the fact that we can get paint-like results with little to no mess and no worries of them drying up on us. Using these in a combination with the originals made for some interesting art in our home! Once again, I'm pretty darn impressed and recommend these to all parents and educators!
