I have a 10-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son who both really enjoy playing games as a family. So they were excited to try out a new game. As a family, we really enjoyed playing this game. Between the kids and my husband, they were always going back and forth to keep score to see who would win. Seriously, my husband is like adding a 3rd kid in once the games begin! The character cards are well made and creative. The game is fun and easy to play, and it critical thinking, memory skills, logical thinking skills, as well as strategy skills. As a homeschooling parent, I absolutely love this. Anything that has to do with learning and having fun, I am absolutely on board with.
Here's how to play:
The goal of the game is to win coins by playing cards with the highest value. There are two types of cards:
RACER Cards have an animal character with a number value. Examples are Rabbit, Squirrel, Fox, Pig, and Snail.
BOOSTER Cards have a gadget with a number value. These cards are used to increase the value of a Racer card. Examples are Spring Shoes, Turbo Skateboard, Wing Glider, and Pogo Blast.
To start each player is dealt 5 cards. Then players secretly place a Racer card face-down on the table. Next is the most exciting part! A player shakes the cube roller, pulls the trigger, and out pops a colored cube. The dice roller has 3 cubes, one for each color of a stoplight (red, green, and yellow). The excitement builds as the cubes shake around the roller…
If a Yellow or Red pops out the anticipation builds because new Racer cards can be played
If a Green pops out the RACE IS ON! Players flip their Racer card to reveal the value. Then players can play Booster Cards to increase their score. The race quickly turns into a fun game of Poker!
Finally, players add their Racer card and Booster card(s) to get a total score. The highest number wins the round and earns 1 gold coin!
To continue to play you simply reload the dice roller and draw up to 5 cards.
As far as the game itself, it is pretty well made. It's made of thicker cardboard so be careful as to not spill any liquids on it as it may get ruined. I love that everything is themed properly and is age-appropriate. Wild Dash takes approximately 15 minutes to play, but it depends on how many people are playing the game. I have to admit, though, I was a bit disappointed to have received, what appeared to be, an opened game. There was a cardboard slot ripped out of place, cards and pieces out of packaging - just scattered, etc. It wasn't a horrible mess, however, I reached out to the company and never received a response back. I know this is not typical of this company as I have a few of their game in my household and never had an issue such as this. So the most disappointing factor is not getting a response about this. Besides that, the game was fun. Overall, it's a fun game for the family which allows for a fun way to learn - which my family totally approves of!
